James Gunn on Dick Grayson, Hush & More in The Batman 2: "Nope"

The rumors of Dick Grayson, Clayface, Hush, Professor Pyg & Scarecrow appearing in The Batman 2? They just got a big "nope" from James Gunn.

Heading into this past holiday weekend, here's what we knew about Matt Reeves' The Batman "Elseworlds" universe. The Colin Farrell-starring spinoff The Penguin is set to hit Max screens sometime in 2024 – and is set in the film's universe (leading directly into the sequel). Reeves' upcoming "Arkham" series will not be set in "The Batman" universe but in DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn & Peter Safran's new DCU. Along with that, Gunn also confirmed that Reeves will be doing both "Elseworlds" and DCU work. As for the next chapter of the Robert Pattinson-starring film franchise, Gunn confirmed via social media in the middle of December that "I heard a pitch. No script yet." Well, that must've been one helluva pitch because over the past ten days or so, there have been rumblings that everyone from Dick Grayson and Clayface to Hush, Professor Pyg, and Scarecrow were "set" for The Batman 2 – if given enough time, we're sure that King Tut, Egghead, and a cyborg version of Joe Chill would've been thrown into the mix. Because if you're like us, you had to pause and think, "How did we get from 'no script' to five major characters suddenly being thrown into the mix?" Thankfully, Gunn was once again willing to hit up Threads to burn away the rumors & misinformation. Spoiler? Turns out it was all "totally made up."

Of course, you don't have to take out word for it – we're just quoting Gunn, who kicked things off with a "Nope" just to make sure there wasn't any confusion right from the jump. On the plus side? It was nice to see folks taking a break from Superman: Legacy rumors to focus on other parts of Gunn & Safran's DC Studios. Guess that counts as… progress?
