"Preacher" Season 4, Episode 5 "Bleak City": Here's One Indignity Featherstone Won't Suffer [PREVIEW]
After weeks of waiting, Jesse Custer's (Dominic Cooper) final sermon from "The Book of Genesis" is officially underway, with AMC's adaptation of Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon's Preacher running its fourth and final season gauntlet.
By the time the last drop of blood dropped in "Search and Rescue," we had Jesse (Dominic Cooper) saying goodbye to "Trials of Job" mate Steve (Ditch Davey) as some "divine intervention" brought Jesse to the coast of Australia. The Saint of Killers (Graham McTavish) showed us possibly the coolest – and quickest – way to get to Australia, with Eugene (Ian Colletti) still tag-teaming at his side. Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) gives gives Frankie Toscani (Lachy Hulme) his last prostate exam ever, gets to nearly tear his hands off, and feast on Archangel (David Field) blood – all in thr name of Tulip (Ruth Negga).
Speaking of Tulip… leave it to an O'Hare to lead "Sexy Jesus" (Tyson Ritter) astray – and for Featherstone (Julie Ann Emery) to put Jesus in his place. Meanwhile, as Herr Starr (Pip Torrens) and God (Mark Harelik) finalize God's master plan, Hitler's (Noah Taylor) bribed his way into knowing the truth about Humperdoo (Tyson Ritter). What will he do with that knowledge, and does it shift the scales in Hell's favor?
In the following preview for this week's episode "Bleak City," Featherstone doesn't have a problem with being killed for losing Tulip and Jesus – no, it's the indignity that's about to happen that she takes serious umbrage with…
In this first preview, God's cruel nature knows no bounds when it comes to Jesse – but to have him suffer through the horrors of renting a car?
Out of bounds, God… out of bounds…
Preacher season 4, episode 5 "Bleak City": Tulip reunites with Cassidy and Eugene finds Jesse; the Grail's agenda threatens to unwind.
As our story inches closer to the finale, God's endgame for the universe begins to click into place. Trapped between heavenly prophecies, hellish prisons, and all-out nuclear war, Jesse, Tulip, and Cassidy make their bloody way to the Most High. Whether they can reach God in time — or whether all this carnage is part of His divine plan — will soon be revealed as PREACHER barrels towards the end of the world.
So what made the two-hour season premiere of AMC's Preacher particularly special for us? Watching Emery up her "badass" level to a solid "11" with some sick fight scenes, serious "auto fu," and one of the best Rocky the Flying Squirrel imitations we've ever see – and we're not even coming close to doing her justice.
While she was doing all of that that onscreen, Emery was also "hijacking" Bleeding Cool's Twitter account to take questions and offer some amazing behind-the-scenes perspectives on the series' production (seriously, the wire work video for the flying suit scene alone is worth a visit – which you can do here).
