SNL: Tina Fey and Amy Poehler Return to "Weekend Update" for Emmys
During tonight's Emmys, Tina Fey & Amy Poehler returned to the SNL "Weekend Update" desk to announce Outstanding Live Variety Special.
With a new episode of NBC's Saturday Night Live set for this weekend, we're going to start getting the promo machine rolling tomorrow for host Jacob Elordi (Euphoria, Priscilla) and musical guest Reneé Rapp. But thanks to tonight's Emmy Awards, we were able to get a little nostalgic SNL goodness from Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. After Jimmy Fallon and before Seth Meyers, Fey & Poehler were "Weekend Update" anchors from 2004-2006 – and hall-of-fame-worthy every time. To present the award for Outstanding Live Variety Special, the duo was back behind the desk to "report" some great lines about the nominees. "We've reached the stage in life where we'll only present awards sitting down," Fey shared near the opening of the segment. We don't want to spoil things by stepping on their jokes – but we will say that we hope to see them back behind the home office "Weekend Update" desk during the upcoming 50th season.
Here's a look at Fey & Poehler back behind the "Weekend Update" desk to do the Emmys a solid:
