Amazon To Stream Green Bay Packers Vs Chicago Bears Game on Thursday, September 28
Amazon Prime is going to be streaming their first NFL game on Thursday, September 28th. The game is an NFC North rivalry clash between the Chicago Bears and the Green Bay Packers. The packers lead by one of the best quarterbacks in the game, Aaron Rodgers are coming off an opening game victory against the Seattle Seahawks while the Bears lost a close game to the Atlanta Falcons behind journeyman quarterback Mike Glennon. The Bears will be playing this weekend against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers then against the Pittsburgh Steelers. You have to wonder how short a leash Glennon has before John Fox puts in their first round draft pick Mitchell Trubisky who they traded way to much to move up one spot to get. The Pack play against the Falcons and the Cincinnati Bengals before their match up with the Bears.
This is the start of a new deal between Amazon and the NFL to stream 10 Thursday night games this season. To go with the first game, Amazon has made the following video that is a play on the old Mutual of Omaha Wild Kingdom style shows where someone witnesses animals in nature. In this case, we get Bears and Packers playing together in a stream… since Amazon will be streaming the game, it makes poetic sense. The only problem here… the packers are packing fish.
Why is that a problem? Well, when Curly Lambeau started the Green Bay Packers in 1919 he had to convince his employer to chip in $500 for jerseys and equipment and borrowed their field to practice in. Lambeau was working for the Indian Packing Company at the time, which would be taken over by the Acme Packing Company, which means he named the team after the meatpackers.
