'Taken' Is Renewed For A Second Season But Loses Their Showrunner

TakenTaken at NBC has received a second 16-episode season but they are going to lose their showrunner in the process. The previous showrunner Alex Cary, who not only developed the show but also served as executive producer, is leaving though Deadline is reporting that the parting of ways was "amicable". There are rumors, also according to Deadline, that they are tweaking the creative direction of the show.

The show has averaged 1.3 million in adults 18-49 and a 7.0 million viewers overall. That makes it #2 among NBC, ABC, and CBS in its Monday 10-11 PM ET timeslot.

Executive produced by Besson, Taken follows the origin story of younger, hungrier former Green Beret Bryan Mills (Clive Standen) as he deals with a personal tragedy that shakes his world. As he fights to overcome the trauma of the incident and exact revenge, Mills is pulled into a career as a deadly CIA operative, a job that awakens his very particular, and very dangerous, set of skills. In 30 years, this character is destined to become the Bryan Mills in the Taken films starring Liam Neeson.
