The Comey Rule Preview: Comey, Trump & An Expectation of Loyalty

Showtime's limited series adaptation of former FBI head James Comey's New York Times bestselling book A Higher Loyalty (as well as additional interviews) is proving to be even more essential viewing than anyone first thought considering the state of the country, and with a volatile presidential election right around the corner. The Comey Rule stars  Jeff Daniels (The Newsroom) as Comey and Brendan Gleeson (Mr. Mercedes) as Donald Trump, both joined by a killer line-up of acting talent (check out the list below)- and now Showtime is offering viewers a look at one of the key moments in the history of the current presidency- a moment that go on to define both men to this day- ahead of the limited series' premiere on Sunday, September 27, at 9 pm ET/8 pm CT).

In the following preview clip "The Loyalty Dinner," Trump (Gleeson) invites FBI Director James Comey (Daniels) to a one-on-one dinner and has one expectation from him during his tenure (and from the title and recent history, you know where this is going):

Based on Comey's No. 1 New York Times bestselling book A Higher Loyalty and more than a year of additional interviews with a number of key principals, THE COMEY RULE is an immersive, behind-the-headlines account of the historically turbulent events surrounding the 2016 presidential election and its aftermath, which divided a nation. THE COMEY RULE is not a biopic of one man, but is instead the story of two powerful figures, Comey and Trump, whose strikingly different personalities, ethics and loyalties put them on a collision course.

O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story) as former FBI agent Peter Strzok, Peter Coyote (The Disappearance) as Robert Mueller and Kingsley Ben-Adir (High Fidelity) as President Barack Obama.
