'War of the Worlds' TV Series Coming Starring Gabriel Byrne, Elizabeth McGovern

Apparently, we're getting yet-another War of the Worlds adaptation. No, not the BBC's version which is due out this year (although we are looking forward to it)–yet ANOTHER one, in a television format.

'War of the Worlds' TV Series Coming Starring Gabriel Byrne, Elizabeth McGovern

According to Deadline, this non-BBC tv adaptation from Urban Myth Film's TV will be a contemporary take. Set in Europe, this reimagining will follow the pockets of humanity left on earth following an apocalyptic extra-terrestrial strike. Production is currently underway, and it's expected to debut later this year on Canal+ in France, and on Fox.

The outlet also goes on to say that The Usual SuspectsGabriel Byrne and Downton Abby's Elizabeth McGovern will lead the cast, which will also include Léa Drucker (Le Bureau Des Légendes), Natasha Little (Silent Witness), Daisy Edgar Jones (Cold Feet), Stéphane Caillard (Marseille), Adel Bencherif (The Prophet), and Guillaume Gouix (The Returned).

We'll let you know what else we hear about both adaptations of H.G. Wells' classic novel.

In the meantime, here's a look at the upcoming version from the BBC:
