Marvel Still Beat DC's Market Share Despite Blackest Night Ring Promotion

With DC almost topping Marvel's market share in October, the expectation was that, buoyed by the Blackest Night promotion, DC Comics may tip the scales for November orders.

However, that was not to be.

The latest figures for November released by Diamond have Marvel on a 37.85% of dollar share to DC's 31.71%. And for unit share, Marvel have 41.93% against DC's 34.78%.

However the Top Ten does have a greater DC prescence than usual, with seven titles including the top two (Blackest Night #5, Green Lantern #48, with Adventure Comics #4 smashing in to number six), against Marvel's three titles. It will be interesting to see how those other ring books are spread out across the top twenty.

In other stat news, the top selling graphic novels of November were not Marvel or DC. Chew Vol 1 from Image took the top spot with the DC-abandoned The Boys from Dynamite outselling all DC titles, including Blackest Night tie in book Green Lantern: Agent Orange. Someone somewhere in 1700 Broadway should be kicking themselves.
