Sony And Dark Horse To Adapt Chris Grine's Chickenhare As Animated Film
Chickenhare is a webcomic that did well for itself. Created by Chris Grine, its a story of a half chicken/half rabbit and his turtle companion, sold as pets to a taxidermist, who then escape from his castle in the North Pole with new friends, to defeat Klaus the taxidermist, find their own lives and forge their own destinities.
The book was picked bu by Dark Horse Comics who published the first two volumes. The third is available to read online.
And now, according to Variety, Sony Pictures Animation has picked up the rights for an animated feature with Dark Horse Entertainment. They point out this is the second animation deal Dark Horse has signed of late, citing Beasts Of Burden from Evan Dorkin and Jill Thompson. And that Dark Horse president Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg will exec produce on behalf of the publisher. Michael Lachance will oversee the project for SPA with Raimo-Kouyate.
