Lumberjanes #1 Sells Out Three Times Initial Orders

Bleeding Cool have been big fans of the new Lumberjanes comic from Boom! At the time of solicitation, we wrote,

Lumberjanes is going to be a popular comic book, it could well outsell Boom's other comics, yes, even Adventure Time, at least where comic stores are concerned. People are going to want to buy this comic book. Retailers, they can buy the comic from you, if you want to sell it to them. If you order enough. Or they'll go somewhere else.

If this only gets 9,000 orders, say, from direct market stores, there may be riots.

Thought it might be worth pointing out, even this far ahead.

Well, some listened. Not everyone. The word coming out from Diamond's Retailer Summit in Las Vegas is that Lumberjanes #1 has sold out at the distributor level. I managed to get a guy to get some hard numbers from Boom! representatives at the Summit.

I've been told that initial orders were only 6,866 copies. After Bleeding Cool's article, the Final Order Cutoff numbers nearly doubled to 12,718 copies. Boom! then added an aggressive 5,000 copy overprint, giving a total of 17,718 copies, which have now sold out at Diamond. A second printing is on its way naturally and I've snagged an image. The new printing will be in stores the same day as issue #3.

Those retailers who went long and deep on this comic should be happy… it currently sells on eBay for $5. With this news, that might be going up shortly. And I'm been told to listen out for more Lumberjanes news at Boom's presentation tomorrow.
