Top 100 Comics For July 2014 – Matt Smith Beats David Tennant, Official
Here is the list of the hundred top selling comic books in the North American comic stores for July 2014, as ordered by direct market accounts.
Rocket Raccoon #1 topped the chart, selling two and a half times the amount that the second title, Batman #33 did. However, over 150,000 of those were to the monthly subscription box service, Loot Crate.
It's also notable that Harley Quinn #8, a $2.99 book, came 10th on the chart in sales but only 21st on the chart for revenue raised. While the $4.99 Harley Quinn Invades San Diego Comic-Con came 16th on the chart for sales but 8th in terms of revenue raising… the $4.99 price point appeals more and more to publishers for this exact reason.
Talking of that price point, the $4.99 Life Of Archie #36 (with the Death Of Archie) charted high, 27th in sales but 10th in revenue. #37 charted 42nd in sales but 16th in revenue.
Yes folks, the tenth most money making comic in July was an Archie comic.
Also, according to comic shops, the Matt Smith Doctor beat the David Tennant Doctor as Doctor Who: The Tenth Doctor #1 charted at 59 while Doctor Who: The Eleventh Doctor #1 came in at 67.
The comic stores have spoken. Geronimo!
