Scott Snyder And Jock's Wytches #1 NYCC Variant Quickly Sells For Over A Hundred Bucks

Speculation is a dirty word to some in the comic world. There is money to be made in new comics, especially exclusive variant, and there are many who chase it. With the cost of tickets, parking, hotels, and travel, people try to make the cost back wherever they can. By far the hottest book coming out of New York Comic Con was the Wytches #1 NYCC Variant.

The book was limited to 500 copies, and only 150 were released a day. People started lining up before the convention floors opened and by the time the crowds were let in, many were out of luck. Image allowed retailers to purchase 5 copies each and con-goers to get 2 each. At $10 a copy, this was the value buy of the convention.

Copies were selling on eBay for over $100 by Friday. Prices were helped along when the news broke that the book was optioned. This caused an even bigger demand for the book. Lines grew longer and longer each subsequent day.

On Sunday, people were lined up before 9:00 AM in front of the Image booth hoping to get a copy. Many were disappointed when a representative came out and announced they only had 20 copies available that day. It is not known what happened to the other 105 copies that were supposed to be sold, if they had been pulled, given away, or were over sold on a previous day.
