Bill Finger To Get Creator Credit In The Batman Comics As Well As The TV And Movies

Early today the news broke by press release to DC Comics' media partner The Hollywood Reporter that writer and co-creator of Batman, Bill Finger, was to get official credit for his contribution creating the character of Batman, and his world, in both the Gotham TV series and the Batman Vs Superman movie.

As part of the original Batman deal from 1939, the credit and licensing payments went to Bob Kane and his estate, certainly the smartest deal done by any comic book creator around that time, but one that has always excluded Bill Finger.

While his case have been pleaded for decades, there have been problems around how that would clash with the originally enforced deal.

At once point DC reps stated that they were simply not having this conversation. And statement that all was good between DC Comics and Bill Finger's family were dismissed by Bill Finger's family. 

But it seems that some accommodation has been made, for the TV show and films at least. What about the Batman comic books? After all, there are a lot more of them around.

Bleeding Cool has had it confirmed from DC sources that, yes, Bill Finger will receive a similar credit in the Batman comic books as well.
