Life of WWE Superstar Paige Coming To Big Screen Thanks To The Rock
WWE Studios will be partnering with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's Seven Buck Productions, Misher Films, and Film4 to bring the life story of WWE Superstar Paige to the big screen. Fighting With My Family will also be written, executive produced, and directed by Steven Merchant of The Office, Extras, and the upcoming Logan where he will play Caliban, as reported on by Deadline. It is inspired by a Channel 4 British documentary The Wrestlers: Fighting With My Family. Johnson will be in the film to some degree, and Paige will be played by Florence Pugh.
The film follows the story of reformed gangster and former wrestler Ricky, his wife Julia, daughter Saraya and son Zak who make a living performing in tiny venues across the country. Ricky and Julia want a better life for their children and when brother and sister get the chance to audition for the WWE, it seems the family dream is coming true and all their troubles will be solved. However, Saraya and Zak are about to learn that becoming a WWE Superstar demands more than they ever imagined possible as athletes and siblings.
Her brother will be played by Jack Lowden, soon to be seen in Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk.
Paige (real name Saraya-Jade Bevis) has been on the shelf from action for quite awhile with a serious neck injury, as well as becoming engaged to fellow pro wrestler Alberto el Patrón, and the two have been in a few dustups with the law. WWE officials have even tried to break the couple up.
The film is going into production in Los Angeles and London this month. No release date has been set.
