Earlier today, we told you about Archie's new deal with Warner Bros Television to develop more sexy teen dramas based on the characters of Archie Comics like Riverdale. Along with that deal comes a new plan to also increase the Mark Waid at Archie Comics. Waid has reportedly signed on to co-writer more series at Archie later this year, mentoring up and coming writers in the process. Waid will start things off by joining Ian Flynn as the writer of Jughead in May.

"This opportunity is exciting to me for a number of reasons," said Waid in an interview with THR. "First, the chance to expand my role as a writer at Archie is terrific as we all share the same storytelling goals. Second, it allows me to exercise my editorial muscles, which — surprise — is why I got into comics in the first place. But most of all, the opportunity to help build a more diverse staff of writers, younger, eager to learn, and eager to teach me."

In addition to helping writers develop their professional skills, Waid can also mentor them in the art of Twitter tirades, threatening to flip tables at comic book conventions, and why Superman never kills, dammit!
