Signatures On Trading Cards Featuring Atlanta Falcons Draft Pick Takkarist McKinley "Not Authentic"

mckinleyTrading card company Panini has announced that they believe some of the cards signed by Takkarist McKinley, and those included in recent packs, are not authentic signatures.

McKinley, the first round pick of the Atlanta Falcons two weeks ago, is believed to have a deal with Panini in the $2 to $5 per card range. Players sign sticker sheets that are then added to the cards.

The company posted on their blog:

"Through extensive research and working closely with McKinley's representatives, Panini America officials have confirmed that some of McKinley's autographs in those products were not signed by McKinley."

The cards in question were already inserted into two sets: 2017 Elite Draft Picks Football and 2017 Contenders Draft Picks Football. Collectors can send the McKinley cards back to Panini for a card with a guaranteed authentic signature.

Neither McKinley nor his representatives have commented on the claims.

It's unclear whether the NFL could fine McKinley for this, which is the second time his conduct has been questioned since the draft. The first was for cursing during the on-stage interview following his being drafted. The NFL decided not to fine the player, who had been talking about his grandmother at the time.
