Wonder Woman #25 Gives Movie Fans The Scene They Were Denied… (SPOILERS)

Since the modern day superhero film began with Superman: The Movie, the films have been more likely to show their superheroes with a sex life than the comics did. Superman and Lois Lane ended up in bed together in their second movie. Alfred had to deal with the various women Batman brought back to the Batcave. Pepper Potts had to play a similar role to deal with Tony Stark before landing the man himself. Doctor Strange more recently stuck out for being such a sexless movie – not a criticism, it just did things differently.

And then there;s Wonder Woman (spoilers for those who haven't seen the film. Or, I guess read today's comic book) has Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor together – the flirting was there, the tenderness, the intimacy, even the nudity on one occasion, but the film definitely kept one foot on the floor, as it were. What happened on the boat, or in that hotel room after they cut away, is not hinted at subsequently. And then, before you know it, it was self-sacrificial time for Steve before the pair got round to ever (officially) knocking red leather boots.

So in the finale for today's Wonder Woman #25, Greg Rucka's last issue, alongside Liam Sharp and Bilquis Evely, any new Wonder Woman readers got what a certain section of those had been waiting for – and had resigned not to get from any sequel.
