20th Century Fox Brings the Fun to Their Panel for The Predator

This might be the last time we get 20th Century Fox at a San Diego Comic-Con and they are going out with a clicking noise. Fans took to Hall H on Thursday morning to kick off the convention with R-rated style. A packed room, which is always fun, got to watch the cast of The Predator come out to show off the movie. Director Shane Black along with cast members Trevante Rhodes, Keegan-Michael Key, Olivia Munn, Sterling K. Brown, Thomas Jane, Augusto Aguilera, and Jake Busey.

They kicked off the panel by showing a behind-the-scenes reel that had the various members doing a "who would win" with the Predator. Thomas Jane was asked who would win against the Punisher and the reel really showed how much fun this cast had while making this movie. It became even more apparent that this cast was having a lot of fun when the first part of the panel was spent doing a lot of versus talk. Olivia Munn called John Wick "the baddest ass mother fucker".

Then we moved on to the first clip where we get to see that the entire cast interacting. Munn's character is asleep on the bed and various male characters are messing with her by leaving little things on the bed. They are laughing and giggling. She wakes up and makes a grab for the gun and the boys start freaking out and exchanging money because there was a bet whether or not she would go for the gun. Boyd Hollbrook tries to take the gun from her but she won't let it go. Eventually she pulls the trigger but the gun was empty.

There is a conversation that was bleeped a lot so they're going to take advantage of the R-rating when it comes to the language. There are quite a bit of moments that got a lot of laughs from the crowd. Munn's character explains what the Predator's are and someone points out that the name doesn't really make sense. They are "hunters" not "predators".

We get back to the cast and Shane Black talked about meaner and slicker version of the movie. Keegan-Michael Key talked about how he didn't know how they got anything done. They would watch viral youtube videos, old Blaxploitation movies, and movies like The Room. Key says that they all tried to get as many references into the movie as possible. Jack Busey talked about trying to escape the shadow of his father but ended up in a Predator movie at the same age his father was when he was in Predator 2.

Black set up the second clip by talking about the fact that the Predator's keep losing their best warriors. Some of the Predator's decided that they wanted to punch back and the Ultimate Predator is that fist that is punching back. In this scene we see a Predator attacking our heroes until it is pulled through a wall. An Ultimate Predator starts to attack the regular Predator and they have a brutal fight. The Ultimate Predator eventually kills the regular Predator as one of the characters say out loud about the Predator's fighting each other.

We got an extended trailer after the clip and lots of sneak peaks of the movie. We hear from Munn about how she wanted to get around some of the micro-expressions that go into characters. For examples, in movies, a man can pick up any gun and know how to use it but women usually don't. In this movie Munn's character is able to pick up a gun and use it just like the men.

Summary: From the outer reaches of space to the small-town streets of suburbia, the hunt comes home in Shane Black's explosive reinvention of the Predator series. Now, the universe's most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. When a young boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race.

The Predator, directed by Shane Black, stars Boyd Holbrook, Trevante Rhodes, Jacob Tremblay, Keegan-Michael Key, Olivia Munn, Sterling K. Brown, Alfie Allen, Thomas Jane, Augusto Aguilera, Jake Busey, and Yvonne Strahovski. It will be released on September 14th.
