The Simpsons Comic to Stop After 25 Years – Bongo to Close?

The Bongo Comics booth at San Diego Comic-Con was rather on the plain side this year. Matt Groening's own comic book publisher, who puts out Simpsons-and-related comic books has been putting out fewer and fewer of late. At the show, creators weren't that enthused. And we just discovered why.

The Simpsons comic book will be finishing in October with a final issue #245. And that may well be the end of Bongo as well, after 25 years of publishing. On Instagram, Nathan Kane, Creative Director at Bongo Comics, said "Cat's out of the bag! Thank you Simpsons Comics! It's been a blast! #bongocomics #simpsonscomics#simpsons #comicbooks #sdcc2018#comicbooklove #endofanera"

The comic book is still insanely popular — less so in the USA, but big-time in Europe where it regularly tops the newsstand charts.

What happens next, we don't know. But my suspicion is that someone else — Boom!, IDW, Dynamite — has the license.

I wonder who?

It looks like someone in the offices might have heard shortly before San Diego.
