'American Horror Story' Season 9: Emma Roberts, Olympic Skier Gus Kenworthy Confirmed
While fans of FX's American Horror Story are still settling themselves down from last season Murder House/Coven crossover season Apocalypse, the horror anthology's co-creator Ryan Murphy has proven a regular "chatterbox" about AHS's future (see below) – and now we have some casting announcements for the upcoming ninth season of AHS.
Murphy took to Instagram on Wednesday to announce that Olympic skier Gus Kenworthy is set to appear in the franchise's upcoming season as the boyfriend of Emma Roberts. Anyone who knows the shows knows that Roberts is definitely no stranger to AHS or the "Murphy-verse." having appeared in the Coven, Freak Show, Cult, and Apocalypse seasons. Roberts also starred in Murphy's short-lived comedy Scream Queens for FOX.
That special moment when you realize you have an Olympic medal AND will be playing Emma Roberts' boyfriend on "American Horror Story" Season 9.
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight following the occasion of his being honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in December 2018, Murphy may have actually beaten his own record for how quickly he offers next-season teases with some very tantalizing tidbits about American Horror Story's future – both next season and beyond.
When asked about the possibility of Cordelia (Sarah Paulson) and her coven (Billie Lourd, Leslie Grossman, Emma Roberts, Taissa Farmiga, Frances Conroy, Gabourey Sidibe, and Lily Rabe…and hopefully Stevie Nicks and Joan Collins) making a return appearance, Murphy was surprisingly candid:
"The witches will be back. Not next season, but we have something really fun planned."
So what can fans expect? This is Ryan Murphy we're talking about here – did you really think it was going to be that easy? Two takeaways from his response, though? They have a storyline, and the cast he's interested in are about to get the reveal:
"I can't say what it is! I'm going to this luncheon, and many of the Horror Story actors are there, and I'm gonna tell them for the first time. So I have to tell them first."
