Yes, 'Kingsman: The Great Game' Still Happening After Disney's Fox Purchase
Perhaps it's not the title you were most curious about, but it would appear that the Kingsman prequel film The Great Game is still happening following Disney's acquisition of Fox.
In a recent piece from The Hollywood Reporter, Kingsman: The Great Game was listed as one of the already-in-production films that will maintain it's release following the Great Mouse purchase. James Cameron's Avatar sequels were a given, but Mouse Guard wasn't so lucky.
An unnamed producer commented to THR that "We are now just only beginning to see how all this consolidation will change how movies get greenlit and made. They [Disney] are looking at everything."
Chairman of The Walt Disney Studios Alan Horn said that this acquisition definitely opens up the types of things that would be featured in the Disney-owned Fox films. "With Fox, we can make movies that right now I say no to … We always have to think about the smoking policy. The audience for a Disney movie may not know what they are going to see, but they know what they aren't going to see. There are certain things we just can't include because we'll get letters."
Kingsman: The Great Game will star Ralph Fiennes, Charles Dance, and Aaron Taylor Johnson, but not the star of the first two films, Taron Egerton (as this is a PREQUEL). Originally slated to open in November of 2019, it was pushed back to February 14th of 2020.
