"Preacher" Season 4, Episode 4 "Search and Rescue": Tulip Plans a Jailbreak – with Jesus' Riding Shotgun? [PREVIEW]
After weeks of waiting, Jesse Custer's (Dominic Cooper) final sermon from "The Book of Genesis" is officially underway, with AMC's adaptation of Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon's Preacher running its fourth and final season gauntlet. After one helluva' two-hour season premiere, "Deviant" dialed our little game of time-jumping "Chutes and Ladders" up to an "11."
Tulip (Ruth Negga) found herself at the losing-end of a fight she couldn't win with a well-placed bedpan to the face: a psych therapy session – which goes just as well as you think it would. Meanwhile, Cassidy's (Joseph Gilgun) "guilt world tour" got a backstory – and some prodding from an Angel (David Field) to not give up… with a little "feather" for his thoughts.
"The Trials of Jesse" continues, with our preacher's rescue mission to Jesus DeSade's (James Smithers) "House of Entertainment" proving to be exactly what God (Mark Harelik) and Herr Starr (Pip Torrens) wanted, while The Saint of Killers (Graham McTavish) and Eugene's (Ian Colletti) "journey to Jesse" rambles 0n – after disposing of some "sex detectives" (trust us).
In next episode "Search and Rescue," Cassidy looks to be literally going to pieces – but over what… or who? Of course, leave it to Jesse to one-up everyone – invoking the wrath of God and finding himself in a plane that's just about ready to crash… which it does. Behind it all? God and Herr Starr – with Hitler (Noah Taylor) ready to represent Hell.
Meanwhile… with her back to the corner, Tulip is forced to to slip into "buddy cop movie" mode with a very unexpected partner: Jesus (Tyson Ritter)
In this previously-released preview, God and Herr Starr share a drink and roaring fire – though as you're about to see, Herr Starr has an important question he needs answered:
Preacher season 4, episode 4 "Search and Rescue": Tulip forges an unexpected alliance to save Cassidy; Jesse finds himself stranded.
As our story inches closer to the finale, God's endgame for the universe begins to click into place. Trapped between heavenly prophecies, hellish prisons, and all-out nuclear war, Jesse, Tulip, and Cassidy make their bloody way to the Most High. Whether they can reach God in time — or whether all this carnage is part of His divine plan — will soon be revealed as PREACHER barrels towards the end of the world.
So what made the two-hour season premiere of AMC's Preacher particularly special for us? Watching Emery up her "badass" level to a solid "11" with some sick fight scenes, serious "auto fu," and one of the best Rocky the Flying Squirrel imitations we've ever see – and we're not even coming close to doing her justice.
While she was doing all of that that onscreen, Emery was also "hijacking" Bleeding Cool's Twitter account to take questions and offer some amazing behind-the-scenes perspectives on the series' production (seriously, the wire work video for the flying suit scene alone is worth a visit – which you can do here).
