Aaron Haaland writes from A Comic Shop in Orlando, Florida;
Hey Fandom! It's another week of DC's ZERO MONTH!
Batman #0 by Snyder is freaking amazing! Before Batman Bruce tries to bust up Red Hood's gang, but the real beauty is the origin of the Bat Signal! The signal first lighting is the point that the bat become a symbol. Hope for the terrorized citizens of Gotham and fear for the criminals. It also is a great devise to show what Dick, Jason, and Tim were doing at the time. Batman & Robin #0 is all about Damien! Batgirl #0 doesn't tell us if she was Oracle or how she started walking again, but it is her origin.
My favorite, and the one true, Green Lantern got his New 52 origin told in GLC #0. I am Guy Gardner's biggest fan and will punch in the face anyone who didn't like this issue!
Avengers vs X-Men #11 hits hard. Even though the beats were predicable, I love seeing overpowered heroes killing each other! No specific spoilers!
Creator owner books also rocked: Crossed, Punk Rock Jesus, Manhattan Projects all rocked. The book Whore got a lot of flack for it's title and cover, and maybe it deserved it. But to me people that would be offended by the cover probably won't like the book so it's good that they see that and think "no way, not for me". I saw this unlikable protagonist and the rationalizations he makes for his actions as a guilty pleasure. I enjoy reading about bigger asshole than me!
Bleeding Cool would like to wish Aaron Haaland a very happy birthday for tomorrow. And hope he enjoys his in-store Whore signing tomorrow too…
