Aaron Haaland writes;

Hey Fandom! I'm back with NEW COMICS NOW, enjoying creator owned and corporate controlled comics! This week didn't disappoint.

First, one of my all-time favorite treats, CHEW, came out with a  new volume! Bad Apples was less dark than volume six, well it had plenty of Chew's unique brand dark humor, but I didn't cry this time. Sam Humphries' Sacrifice is out as a hard cover collection, it only ever had limited shop specific distribution in singles, and it is a masterwork! Aztecs vs a Joy Division fan! Numbercruncher #2 continued Si Spurrier's time traveling romance where the protagonist tries to solve for love. I also love Venditti's X-O Manowar, this book is why he's writing Green Lantern! Volume 3's Planet Death has Aric as the alien invading Earth's invaders, and the new issue is the road to Unity!

DC's Trinity War has me hook, line, and sinker as it's heavy on the magical/dark/Vertigo elements of the New 52. I miss Hellblazer as much as the next 36-year-old-raised-on-Vertigo, but nothing has helped me sell those graphic novels as much as the interest JL Dark has built in his character. I'm eagerly anticipating Forever Evil! Pandora's tie-in to Trinity worked for me, you could skip in, but it certainly enriches JL Dark #23. Superman Unchained #3 pits truth and justice against the American Way. Meaning Clarks want Truth more than Patriotism and the 1938 Super-gramps thinks we can't handle the truth. Green Lantern New Guardians #23 was a build to Lights Out, but also a boom! This shows just how high the stakes are with Relic, all won't be well! I can't wait for the Relic villain issue where we will find out what Kyle and the Space Smurfs already know. Marvel's Infinity continued with Hickman in Avengers #18, that's the must have for Infinity. It's much like Blackest Night and Green Lantern were both written by Geoff Johns and really
needed to be read in tandem. The other tie-in really should only be read if you already get the title or have been waiting for an excuse to check it out (like Thunderbolts). Superior Spider-man built toward the looming goblin war with #16. Volume two came out as well, but you need to be reading this book in single issues now as Spider-man 2099 will be here next month!
