Absolute Top Ten… But Where's The Second Half?

Absolute Top Ten… But Where's The Second Half? The DC Comics blog published a list of upcoming hardcover and trade paperbacks well into 2013. Which is usually a sign that the info has been given out to book distributors, so it will come out soon anyway, and this was it comes out under a DC Comics headline. Lots of collections of the things you'd expect to be collected, with a few odds and ends.

One is Absolute Top Ten, by Alan Moore, Gene Ha and Zander Cannon collecting the stories of the police force that police a superhero-filled city,  Top Ten 1-12, The Forty-Niners, Smax #1-5 and the Top Ten story from America's Best Comics Special.

What it doesn't have is the first half of Top Ten Season Two by Cannon and Ha, which was cruelly cancelled half way through. Despite, and I don't say this lightly, being on every level as good as Moore's run on the book. Hopefully such an Absolute Edition may encourage DC to continue the publication of this fully-written-and-thumbnailed second half of this splintered classic…

Marshal Law: The Deluxe Edition HC by Pat Mills and Kevin O'Neill is scheduled for April as well, collecting the satirical superhero hunter Marshal Law #1-6, Marshal Law: Fear And Loathing, Marshal Law Takes Manhattan, Marshal Law: Kingdom Of The Blind, Marshal Law: The Hateful Dead, Marshal Law: Super Babylon and Marshal Law: Secret Tribunal #1-2, $49.99 for 480 pages. This was going to be published by Top Shelf, the shift is a curious one.

Surprisingly there's a second volume of Steve Gerber's prison comic Hard Time. The first volume went out of print a long long time ago…

The Superman: The Death and Return of Superman Omnibus HC gets back into print for more money, but this time even thicker than before, with content that wasn't included last time.

In March, DC/Vertigo are taking advantage of the current Brubaker/Phillips success stories at Marvel and Image by reminding us of the Wildstorm superhero noir series Sleeper, and putting it all in an Omnibus.

Written by Ed Brubaker, drawn by Colin Wilson, Sean Phillips and Jim Lee, with Point Blank #1-5, Sleeper Season One #1-12, Sleeper Season Two #1-12, Coup D'Etat: Sleeper #1 and Coup D'Etat Afterword #1. $75.00 US, 720 pg. For a series that got little commercial love, it's gratifying to see it all Omnibused like this.

Warren Ellis is getting all his Global Frequency in one book and Neil Gaiman's Books Of Magic gets a hardcover deluxe edition.

Time to get more bookshelves.
