Tomorrow sees the release of the new Thor comic book series, still by Jason Aaron, now by Mike Del Mundo, Marco D'Alfonso, and Christian Ward, with an extra-sized launch issue, landing in comic book stores tomorrow with the weight of Mjolnir.

And, for Thor, it's a run around his world, his universe and his timeline. Returning to the mantle of Thor, he is still without his Mjolnir of old, and has to make do with a series of clearly inferior hammers.

And later. Note, even millennia hence, Thor still sports his metal arm. But has somehow been reunited with an old friend.

And so, in beautifully rendered painted panels, Thor is further defined by all those he meets. Those from his past, present and future. Including the last to wield Mjolnir — who now has a little of the Gollum about her.

Yeah. And it doesn't forget the greatest lesson that the last Thor movie gave us, that Thor can be really funny. And maybe should be. Unlike the movie it's not as much at the expense of Thor, but in the incongruity of his world and that of Midgard together.

…but no, we won't spoil that here. However, if you wanted to get in on the ground floor of another Thanos #13 then Thor #1 might do you proud. And Asgardians dammit, it's a really beautiful comic book.
