Attention! The City Of Townsville Is Back And The New Powerpuff Girls Comic Is Awesome
Ever since I read the first issue of the limited series Powerpuff Girls: Super Smash Up, by Derek Charm, I realized my love for nostalgic cartoons. When I heard about this new series, and discovered that Derek would once again be a part of the formula, I couldn't wait to read it. This week brings the release of Powerpuff Girls #1, from IDW, written by Haley Mancini and Jake Goldman, with art by Derek Charm. We're back in the city of Townsville and Mojo Jojo is ready to fight!
I'm sure you remember the friendship, love, and power that surrounded the Powerpuff Girls. The combination of personalities between Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup is a fantastic one. This first issue filled me with the same positive feelings I got when I first encountered the Powerpuff Girls as a kid. It's action-packed, funny, and illustrated in the same Cartoon Network classic style. I found the plot surprising, honestly because I didn't expect to see Mojo Jojo right off the bat. However, I think this was a smart decision on the writers' part. We get that classic cast that we know and love in a dynamite first issue. I look forward to seeing what the creative team has in store for the girls and I hope that it will be just as much fun as this issue.
