AZ Eventure – The Lastest In The Phoenix Comicons Saga….
The latest Phoenix Arizona comic convention news comes in… as Phoenix Comic Con decides not give out any pro passes to comic book industry professionals for the first time, a brand new comic con is being set up on a deliberately smaller scale by some familiar faces for two weeks time.
The AZ Eventure Comic Con is being set up by Jesse James of Jesse James Comics and Tom Hutchinson.
It is only selling three hundred tickets for each day to create a more intimate con experience, with ten A-List guests for the weekend, 20 creators on the Saturday and 20 different creators on the Sunday.
Oh and with guest passes for comic professionals with accreditation.
The $60 charge for the weekend for $40 for a day also includes all-you-can-eat food, drink, parking, swag and show exclusive item.
This is their manifesto.
"Comic Con" is a term that gets tossed around quite liberally nowadays…and for the last decade or so, too boot. But does the term actually mean anything anymore? Does it truly reflect what's going on in convention centers and hotels around the country, and around the world? Do the events calling themselves comic cons really represent the comic book community and culture? Some, maybe, but not all…not by a long shot.
Enter AZ Eventure Con.
Jesse and Tom are old school about comics and about how they should be presented and respected for their place in essentially every aspect of today's pop culture. They remember when comic book fans attended comic book conventions, and looked for and took part in, comic book reading and collecting. It is AZ Eventure Con's goal to return the "comic con" to those that love not just the movies and television shows based on comics, but the source material as well.
Jesse and Tom also want to show the comic book world that there's more to read and collect than simply the Big Two. We live in a period of unparalleled creativity and storytelling through creator-owned comics, and AZ Eventure Con will put those creators at the forefront of this event. Guests and artists all have a direct link to comic book creation. Writers, pencilers, inkers, colorists and letterers will all be involved in this true comic convention. A Comic Creator's Convention.
We invite you to join us for two days of up close and personal contact with some of the industry's best voices, both new and old. We gather to celebrate our history, our traditions and our community through art, through culture, and through comics.
And here's a crossover print by Joe Benitez and Ceci de la Cruz with Lady Mechanika, Tony Chu, Dahlia and Dorothy Gale, 13×19 and limited to 100 copies.
