Bleeding Cool Bestseller List – 15th May 2016 – A Bat By Any Other Writer Would Sell So Well

STL004535Worth noting that a Snyder-less Capullo-less Batman comic still reaches the top…

This is the Top Ten Bleeding Cool Bestseller List, as compiled by a number of comic stores from their sales on Wednesday and Thursday. It measures what are known as the "Wednesday Warriors", those who can't wait to the weekend to get this week's comics. We salute you, and the keenness you bring to your passion.

  • 1. Batman #52
  • 2. Darth Vader #20
  • 3. Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #6
  • 4. Black Panther #2
  • 5. All-New X-Men #9
  • 6. Action Comics #52
  • 7. All-New All-Different Avengers #8
  • 8. Deadpool #11
  • 9. Guardians Of The Galaxy #8
  • 10. Ultimates #7

Thanks to the following retailers,

And this is what they had to say.

From a soft sales week last week to a great sales week this week. Number of new customers from Free Comic Book Day so far? Zero. Two Batman titles and Darth Vader coming out this week manage to get people to come in. Darth Vader is getting cancelled? What the heck Marvel?

Vader back on top with a extra dose of Triple-0 to ensure the top spot. Batman al;so broke the century mark to make it a great Wed this week.

With convention season in full swing i am noticing target specific purchases that seem to flow around the guest list of conventions close and far away.
Marvel Team Ups seeing some love along with Iron Fist this week.

Poor turnout this week – is that always the case with the Wednesday after FCBD? I can't say I recall it from years past for some reason.

I think it's the first time that a 2nd print has ever made the chart (again, that I can recall) – sure it was dead last, but it still beat Deadpool. Shows how much people want this Black Panther comic (or how poorly I ordered the 1st prints).

Batman/TMNT took #1 in our store, marking the first time in years that all six issues of a miniseries performed this well; this book significantly outsold both Batman & TMNT in our store. Superman made it into the Top Ten at last, once DC gave us enough info to order correctly on this issue.

Strong interest in pre-Convergence Superman titles again…

The combined might of the Dark Knight and the TMNT made it easy for them to take the top spot this week. Batman even sold surprisingly well even though Snyder and Capullo weren't on the book (maybe that cover misled some people)? Image Comics had some strong sellers with Jupiter's Circle, Southern Bastards, and The Fix selling well. Marvel had some good showings for Black Panther and Darth Vader had great showings as well.

Speaking of Darth Vader…..WHY IS MARVEL ENDING IT? This is just like Marvel cancelling Dark Avengers or Uncanny X-Force. Both of those titles were awesome books that had strong sales and followings, and they've never been able to recapture those sales with the new series that replaces them. Vader is one of the biggest sellers for us, so why end it? Knowing Marvel, they'll probably relaunch it as "All New Darth Vader" in 3 months.

Empress still has some great heat behind it since the movie announcement and the sell outs of issues 1 and 2. We're expecting to see second printings for issue 3!
