Bleeding Cool Bestseller List – 20th March 2016 – Extraordinary Sales

STK698491

Marvel may not be up for pushing or promoting the X-books too much these days. But that doesn't seem to stop them selling, beating out International Iron Man to the top. Superman also does better than usual, but it's a placement for Huck that is he real surprise….

This is the Top Ten Bleeding Cool Bestseller List, as compiled by a number of comic stores from their sales on Wednesday and Thursday. It measures what are known as the "Wednesday Warriors", those who can't wait to the weekend to get this week's comics. We salute you, and the keenness you bring to your passion.

  • 1. Extraordinary X-Men #8
  • 2. All New X-Men #6
  • 3. International Iron Man #1
  • 4. Superman #50
  • 5. Batman and Robin Eternal #24
  • 6. Star Wars: Kanan #12
  • 7. Uncanny Inhumans #6
  • 8. Huck #5
  • 9. Robin: Son Of Batman #10
  • 10. Superman/Wonder Woman #27

Thanks to the following retailers,

Who had this to say,

Just a standard week for books.Superman #50 took the top spot and everything else was the usual suspects hitting the expected #'s.

Back issues-If it had a Dell'Otto cover it sold. Variants going for crazy $$$ and regular covers going for 2-3 times cover. The popularity of Dell'Otto is crazy rabid and is engulfing Campbell,Ross and Hughes demand 3-1 easy.

Lots of Superman! Movie??
Another light week allowed the X-Men to take the top spot. Lots of customers were interested in seeing Apocalypse make his big return. Huck's continuing to sell really well for us, but the big surprise here is the fact that Max Landis' American Alien outsold Superman #50 pretty soundly. This book has grown in sales each issue. Maybe DC should look into creating a "Landisverse".

Just like Deadpool before him, Apocalypse stuff is now heating up thanks to the new trailer. Tons of interest in the character. Same goes for Deadpool, and Batman/TMNT is quickly becoming the hottest book on the market.

Odd week. Sales were up but nothing selling particularly well across the board. Few exciting releases (yet again) gave our customers the itch to pick up trades and try new series.

DC had its best week in I don't know how long. Batman & Robin Eternal was our #2. Astro City was #4, selling better than rest of DC's entries- Titans Hunt, American Alien and Superman #50.

Marvel's X-books put them at the top of the list with Extraordinary taking #1 and All New #3. Lemire's X-Men is bringing over new readers who follow his work but our X-Men completists are who make anything with X a pretty good seller. You'd think an Iron Man book with the creators behind one of the all time great Daredevil runs would sell a little better. Well, I would anyway. It was #5 on our top ten but I expected a much better performance.

Mark Millar has finally bounced back at our store with Huck. People who ignored or were disappointed by MPH, Chrononauts, Starlight, etc.. have really taken to this book.

We've loaded up on all publisher's $1 #1s and they're flying off the shelves. Especially Deadpool and Image. Getting quite a few BigTwo zombies actually trying books without superheroes.
With the start of convention season we've been selling through our backstock of blank variants.

Huck #5 runs away with first place in our store this week–and it deserves the win. What a great series! DC placed two titles in our Top Ten: Neal Adams' Coming of the Supermen #2 and the latest issue of Superman: American Alien. Yep, two books that ignore the tedium of the main Superman family books and adhere closely to the Silver Age Superman tradition.

Strong interest in Suicide Squad, particularly #s 48 & 49.
