Bleeding Cool Bestseller List – Annuals, Overture And League See DC Take Top Spots
This is the Top Ten Bleeding Cool Bestseller List, as compiled by a number of comic stores from their sales on Wednesday and Thursday. It measures what are known as the "Wednesday Warriors", those who can't wait to the weekend to get this week's comics. We salute you, and the keenness you bring to your passion.
The retailers probably say it all. But by Marvel saving all their big books till next week, DC Comics dominated the market this week. And even Archie makes it back in, something unlikely if Marvel had published one more top title…
- 1. Batman Annual #4
- 2. Justice League #44
- 3. Sandman: Overture #6
- 4. Captain America White #2
- 5. X-Men '92 #4
- 6. New Suicide Squad Annual #1
- 7. Superman #44
- 8. Grayson Annual #1
- 9. Archie #3
- 10. Green Lantern Annual #4
Thanks to the following retailers
- Rodman Comics of Ankeny, Iowa
- Jetpack Comics of Rochester, New York
- G-Mart Comic Books of Champaign, Illinois
- Yesteryear Comics of San Diego, California
- Dr. No's Comics & Games Superstore of Marietta, Georgia

Who had this to say
What a turn around for DC! All it took was Marvel putting out practically nothing. Is there anything productive that can be said about this week? Archie was the only surprise this week, taking our #5 spot. I suspect the next issue will not chart.
Let's get on to next week already..For the first time in quite some time we have 3 DC and Vertigo titles in the top 3. With no Secret Wars, Star Wars, or big Secret Wars tie-ins it was pretty easy for Batman, Sandman, and Justice League to swoop in and take the gold, silver, and bronze. We've seen a lot of dips in sales on Marvel stuff, but hopefully next week it picks up with the release of some of their new #1's, every Star Wars title, Secret Wars, and the rest of Monster Comic Week.
Another GREAT week in sales.
Rick and Morty #6 Destroys the others this week with almost a double digit lead in sales. If you want to sale more than a 100 books 50/50 covers are the way to go. Cap, X-men 92' and Inferno takes 2nd,5th,9th. While Dc comics had New Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman and Batman Annual take 3rd, 4th and 6th. Black Mask takes 7th and 8th with Young terrorist #1 2nd print and Disciples #4. Invader Zim #1 3rd print takes 10th. A slow Diamond weeks mean a Big Back issue sales week. Trades rules the week on Wednesday and Thursday.Invader Zim back issues are continuing to sell. The Spider-Gwen Phantom variant is stronger than it's ever been. Cursed Pirate Girl are on the move again, mostly because there's finally been a new issue solicited!
DC finally figured out how to get 6 titles in the Top Ten again: wait until a week when Marvel is releasing almost nothing, then reschedule two of your top-tier books for release that same week! Add a few annuals, and you got it! (But here's a sign of DC's decreasing dominance in our market: Sandman Overture #6 couldn't beat Archie #3!)
More interest in Marvel and DC Silver and Bronze…
Very odd week. DC almost made up all the top ten if Captain America White 2 hadn't broke it up. Really miss the 3D covers from DC. September turned into a bad month this year for us. Need Marvel to space out their titles better. This week hardly anything from Marvel. Next week thousands of dollars more worth of comics are arriving. If I find that hard on the wallet I can only imagine what the customers who are buying them to keep will be feeling. October should be interesting.
4 Annuals make the TOP 10 best sellers list this week. Shows you what a painfully slow week it was. To make matters worse MARVEL is dumping every comic they ever made all at once next week. Like we really need 0 Star Wars comics and then 3 on the same week? Seriously, publishers? You don't understand people having weekly budgets. How long have you been doing this and I have to complain about the same crap year after year. Spread it out. Sigh
Say – why did someone buy every copy of MARVEL COMICS PRESENTS #19 that we have? Oh. 1st Damage Control and they announced a TV option for it. Of course.
Last of the small weeks. Justice League #44 was the top seller with another great issue. Previous issues are now being picked up in runs so it helped the sales for the last couple of days.
Batman back-issues moved in droves with a little help from Batman day and a sale for customers that came in to take advantage of the discounts. Everything else was quite due to the huge week for books this upcoming Wed.
