Elias is a desperate man, eschewing what medical science could not do for his afflicted wife and praying the Voodoo Queen of the Bayou takes favor on his plight. Power couple Diana Levin and Shawn Givens compile an epic collection of talent from Ghoulish Bunny Studios and their love for the craft was obvious in the energy of Salt Lake City's September FanX (formerly Comic Con) Convention. Levin's artwork is engaging and fits the horror genre well, sampling inspiration from Stephen Gammel (Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark) and Ben Templesmith (30 Days of Night), the black and white ensemble of imagery is enough to pick up this little short story alone. In not wasting a single sentence of text, Givens packs this grimoire with so much substance and description that picking up this book and sampling any part of it oozes with creepy finesse. Together, these two compiled a short story packed with enough charm to earn its place as a favorite for horror fans of any age.
