A (Censored) Look at the Death in Valiant's Harbinger Renegade #5
It's not every day that a publisher believes so much in a new project, that they don't even want you to see it.
But that's exactly what Valiant is doing for the upcoming Harbinger Renegade #5 by Rafer Roberts and Darick Robertson, the first issue of the new "Massacre" story arc – so-named as it will feature the death of a major Valiant Universe hero.
On the heels of the previously announced "advisory label overlay" that will wrap the cover of each issue, the publisher has just released an ever-so secretive "censored preview" of Roberts' script for the issue that reveals select phrases like "barely conscious,""crushed," "throat wide," and "killing machine":
Not surprisingly, Valiant is keeping mum on exactly whose head will roll as the H.A.R.D Corps strike force seeks out Peter, Faith, and the rest of the Harbinger team in advance of next year's Harbinger Wars 2 event. The soon-to-die character's identity is so secret that they're even keeping it under wraps in the Valiant offices, according to Valiant CEO/CCO Dinesh Shamdasani:
"The events of this issue are so secret, we can't even show you the pages yet. Outside of the creators and myself, only a handful of Valiant staffers even know the true identity of the character that is on the line in HARBINGER RENEGADE #5… The reality is that what happens here will be one of the most shocking incidents Valiant has ever committed to print. The ramifications of 'MASSACRE' will continue to be felt for a long, long time… After all, it's no mistake that the epic dynamics contributing toward HARBINGER WARS 2, our most ambitious crossover event to date, begin with a bang right here in this very issue."
Harbinger Renegade #5 is on shelves on July 12th with covers by Robertson, Clayton Crain, Giuseppe Camuncoli, Marc Laming, and Monika Palosz.
And if you're looking for more Harbinger Wars 2 clues, we're told to expect even more clues in the pages of June's Secret Weapons #1 by Arrival screenwriter Eric Heisserer and artist Raul Allen…
