Christmas In July In Giant Days #5

Christmas in July! From BOOM! StudiosGiant Days #5 written by John Allison, with art by Lissa Treiman takes place during a pre-Christmas ball. This issue begins with a look at the difference between girls dress shopping, and boys shopping for a suit. Of course, this is a hilarious thing to witness with this cast of characters. After the preparation for the ball is through, the real fun begins. However, things don't work out so well for some of the group. After a few glasses of wine things start to get a little crazy. How will Daisy, Esther, and Susan handle the aftermath of their intoxicated decisions? Well, I'm not going to spoil it for you.

Allison touches on so many different aspects of relationships and friendships. Having three main characters with such varying personalities helps to make the comic book more relatable, because even if you can't relate to one of them, you can probably relate to another. Treiman's art style continues to dazzle me. I love the quirky nature of the panels, and the hilarious expressions she draws on some of the characters faces.

I always know I'm becoming attached to characters when that happens, so I will give a digital applause to John Allison and Lissa Treiman for brining these characters alive on the pages and allowing readers to connect with them.
