Could We See The Return Of Deathmate?
Deathmate was the nineties crossover between Valiant and Image Comics arranged by Steve Massarsky and Jim Lee that may have doomed the industry at the time. A series of prestige format books pitted Valiant characters against those created by Rob Liefeld, Marc Silvestri and Jim Lee. The Image side was heavily delayed and orders in the several hundred thousand level were suddenly no longer wanted by an industry suffering instant contraction and many stores were buried under the high priced copies they'd ordered.
It did however birth Gen 13, whose first appearance was in Deathmate Black. Creators included Eric Stephenson, Joe Quesada and Barry Windsor Smith among the many names.
Now Dynamite is publishing the Gold Key titles of Turok, Solar and Magnus. Rob Liefeld is doing covers for them. And Extreme Studios has a number of titles out through Image right now.
I couldn't help myself and I forwarded my pal @JimmySJay suggestion to Dynamite honcho Nic Barrucci to revisit Deathmate w/Extreme-Gold Key

I asked Dynamite publisher Nick Barrucci who told me "now that's an interesting idea…"
