Despite Reports of Dangerous Hidden Magic, Image Previews Middlewest #1
Despite dire reports of dangerous hidden magic inside Middlewest, the new comic book by Skottie Young and Jorge Corona, Image comics is pressing ahead with a planned November release anyway and even sent out a preview of the book to media outlets Wednesday morning. On the surface, Middlewest may seem like an innocent creator-owned fantasy comic book, described as:
The lands between the coasts are vast, slow to change, and full of hidden magics. Mistakes have been made, and an unwitting adventurer searches for answers to quell a coming storm that knows his name. MIDDLEWEST is the tale of Abel, a young boy who must navigate an old land in order to reconcile his family's history.
However, having gained access to the mysterious tome ahead of release, Marvel Comics top bearded writer Jason Aaron confirmed reports that the book contains dark powers that human minds cannot comprehend: "Very real. Very magical."
Even worse, superstar writer Mark Waid was reportedly "sucked into" the comic book when reading it, possibly never to be seen again. Well, we guess it's not all bad.
Middlewest #1 hits stores on Wednesday, November 21st, with final order cutoff for retailers on Monday, October 29th, ominously, 2 days before Halloween. What happens on Halloween, Image?! What aren't you telling us!
