Europe's Future in the DC Universe From Doomsday Clock – Justice League Europe

The new issue of Doomsday Clock by Geoff Johns and Gary Frank, the unauthorised sequel to Watchmen and published by DC Comics, is showing the future of the DC Universe Earth and the superheroes who live on it, around the world. The Supermen Theory, currently causing global uproar, points out that 97% of the superheroes live in the USA. But other countries are catching up…

But who is who? Let's have a look at the Justice League of Europe. It's been a while.

Crimson Fox – member of the Justice League Europe. First appearance in Justice League Europe #6 , they were twins created by Keith Giffen and Bart Sears, perfumers Vivian and Constance D'Aramis who shared the role of Crimson Fox. Superhuman speed and strength, they could emit pheromones to control their assailant.

Vivian D'Aramis was killed by Puanteur in Justice League International #104 in 1995. Constance D'Aramis was killed by The Mist in Starman #38 in 1998. In 2006, Green Lantern #11 revealed a new Crimson Fox operating as a French superhero in Paris and part of the Global Guardians. She says she is the heiress to the D'Aramis fortune. Which Crimson Fox or Foxes this is, we are yet to learn.

Fleur-de-Lis – first appearance in Infinity, Inc. #34 in 1987, created by Len Wein, Randy L'officier and Ross Andru as a secret agent,  though she first appears as a member of the Global Guardians. She went freelance, and worked with Deathstroke and André Chavard's Département Gamma of French Intelligence, revealing she had a fling with Deathstroke and that  Tuxedo, is responsible for the death of their unborn son.

The Hunchback – first appearance Wow Comics #2, 1941 – last appearance Wow Comics #5 , 1942. Wealthy playboy Allan Lanier was inspired by the 1939 film version of Victor Hugo's novel The Hunchback of Notre Dame to fight crime, dressed as the character Quasimodo. He calls himself The Hunchback.

Musketeer – first appearance Detective Comics #215, 1955. A swordsman from Paris inspired by Batman, to become a masked hero. A member of the Club of Heroes for its brief existence and later the Global Guardian and fought alongside Batman against the Black Glove in more recent times.

Nightrunner – created by David Hine and Kyle Higgins as part of Batman Inc, his first appearance was in Detective Comics Annual #12 in 2011 but also ended up on The Daily Show With Jon Stewart as he was a Muslim Batman of Paris. Bilal Asselah, a French-Algerian immigrant to France, he was inspired by Batman to help people's cause and bring justice to his chosen home, Clichy-sous-Bois.
