For Those Of You Who Have Read Brian K Vaughan And Marcos Martin's The Walking Dead…
Today Brian K Vaughan's digital publisher Panel Syndicate published a new Walking Dead comic by Vaughan and Marcos Martin, set within The Walking Dead continuity. Vaughan is the only person other than Kirkman to have written an official Walking Dead comic and Marcos Martin is the third artist, after Tony Moore and Charlie Adlard.
The comic can be read here, on a pay-what-you-decide basis.
It tells a story that relates to a certain plot point from the first year of The Walking Dead, and Vaughan confesses to being obsessed by it.
At one point Kirkman stated that the plot point would never be shown in the comic. Well, this seems to be the exception.
Spoilers below, obviously.
But it's a rather good little story that for the first time takes the Walking Dead story abroad, we get to see the same problem from a different perspective, from another country, which is obsessed with its own local version of the apocalypse, with America seen as the great saviour we, as an audience, know it cannot be.
But this is the moment from the original that Vaughan talks about…
And Vaughan's explanation from today's comic book…
Now the other question to be asked… where will Claudia show up?
