Geoff Johns On Video Counting Down To Doomsday Clock…
DC Comics President and CCO Geoff Johns is talking Doomsday Clock #1… jump in.
It's at this point, where Geoff Johns is talking about looking at the tone, the themes, the storytelling of the original Watchmen comic book, that it is worth remembering that the biggest thing Watchmen did for comics, even if the industry wanted to take very different lessons, is that it opened the toolbox for comic book creators to tell stories in new ways. Some of the tools were new, others had been used less well or not codified in the past. Watchmen provided a shiny brand new toolbox for so many people, by finding new ways to tell comic book stories. It was the greatest lesson, but the one least learned. But over time many creators have found ways to tell their stories and were able to draw on Watchmen to help them do that.
Doomsday Clock may well use many of those storytelling techniques. The question is, however, has it really learnt the lesson of Watchmen? And have Geoff Johns and Gary Frank got a whole new box of tools to give to the industry?
