How Does Everything Fit Together In Judgment Day Today? (Spoilers)
As we mentioned, there are nine, count them, nine AXE: Judgment Day tie-in comic books published by Marvel Comics today. And courtesy, of production issues, delays, clashing schedules and general printer issues, they arrive in a higgledy-piggledy fashion this week. So some of the Marvel Universe are just learning that they are being judged by the Celestial Progenitor.
As AXE: Iron Fist #1 sees the new Iron Fist and Loki under the eye of the thumb.
Not just mutant, eternal of god, but also cat. As in Captain Marvel, a certain Flerken is being judged alongside the others.
And learns that judgment is not necessarily binary but can be turned back, in mid-judgement, depending on your actions.
The answer to life, the universe and everything, right there. A lesson that it seems no one else in the Marvel Universe is able to see… maybe aside from Ajak of the Eternals who does it manually.
In Wolverine, the Celestial creates a test based on himself…
With street protests in Fantastic Four…
Mister Fantastic has his own theories on how this judgment will play out.
While Nightcrawler creates a home for the refugee Arakkii in Legion's own mind, in The Altar. It holds plenty of personalities, now it is home to thousands more.
And it's handy that everyone with their own title gets a pass.
The Fantastic Four…
Wolverine…
Lauri-Ell and Carol Danvers,and the Flerken too…
…. Iron Fist and Loki.
…and Legion, whilst mourning the death of Magneto. Passes all round! Shame it is for nothing, as the world as a whole fails and the Celestial must destroy all life as a result. But there is a fight back on multiple fronts.
So, as the Celestial commands the Earth to do its duty…
The first front in the fightback is from the Earth itself.
The second front has Starfox turning the Eternals into weapons against the Celestials, by way of Krakoan telepaths getting past that first principle…
And in AXE: Eternals #1 we get to see that happen.
And so, as the Celestial turns its duty of destruction on the Earth, without the Earth's help…
The Krakoan mutants in Immortal X-Men need to concoct a plan. Which they will. naturally need everyone for.
…as Kraven does some judging of his own while the battle plays out…
Nightcrawler has a much bigger plan than search and rescue. And it undermines much of what we thought we saw in AXE: Judgement Day #5.
First, Magneto won't be coming back. No matter how much Sinister begs.
But more on that later… because while Nightcrawler's plans are coming together, Mister Sinister;s plan to reset the timeline one more time and have another go…
Sinister's get-out clause has gone. Killing his Moira clones to reset reality back to an earlier save point, with or without information from the future.
The best laid plans… let's hope Nightcrawler's one has got more legs. More on that, later. Oh yes,and all of this happened before last week's AXE: Starfox #1. Oh look, Kieron drew a diagram on his newsletter for the books he wrote at least.
