If You Read One Killer Monkey Comic This Year, Make It Bubu The Murderous Monkey

I can't tell you how long I've been waiting to type that headline. For a few months now, my creative partners and I have been working on a web comic about an escaped lab monkey named Bubu that wreaks havoc on New York City. On October 1st, we released Bubu onto the public. While the response has been great, we still need lots of support! Your support!

Thankfully, Bleeding Cool was kind enough to let us bring our case directly to you. We're not asking for financial support. We just want to spread the word about our furry little murderer.

That shouldn't be hard, right? After all, who doesn't love a murderous monkey?

We made a decision early on to avoid asking people that are paid to say no whether or not Bubu is a worthwhile project. We figured, we'd let the readers decide and we'd offer it to them for free!

So, we're asking Bleeding Coolers to head over to www.bubu-comic.com and read our free, twice weekly webcomic. It updates every Tuesday and Friday and just so you know — we've got big plans for this little guy.

At the moment we have six months of free strips in the can and we're looking to publish for an entire year and beyond. Our goal is simple. To create a kick ass web comic, offer it for free and build a loyal readership who will love him as much as we do.

So, who is this Bubu?

Bubu is a lab monkey that has undergone a wide range of research and experimentation. He's been poked, prodded and injected with various chemicals and drugs. Since his escape from the research lab, he's acted out in unique ways to make sense of his place in the world. Is he an indiscriminate killer? Hardly. There appears to be a method to his madness. We like to think of him as an extension of our own monkey minds. A marauding avenger who does all the things we wish we could do in our own lives, but don't.

Who are we, anyway?

Firstly, me! I'm Frank Hannah, a film and comic book writer. I wrote the film The Cooler as well as two films for Stone Cold Steve Austin. Currently, I'm writing various projects for DC Comics. Secondly, Dave Bekerman, a horror fanatic, documentary film maker and screenwriter. Finally, the amazing artist, Alwyn Talbot, who has worked extensively in the video game world as a concept and design artist as well as in the comic book industry. Together, we are the creative force behind the nefarious, yet adorable — Bubu the Murderous Monkey!
