A Look A Trevor Von Eeden's Process
Trevor Von Eeden shared his process art for the variant cover to the new Cage #1 by Genndy Tartakovsky. The colors are by Rachelle Rosenberg. He also shared his prelim sketches for a Powerman and Iron Fist Christmas cover. With cover also by Rosenberg. I love the one with the Avengers #21 cover.
The idea for this cover was entirely editor George Beliard's–he wanted a medium shot of Luke holding an unconscious Chemistro, and presenting his card to the viewer. I did a second prelim of an idea I'd had, but ultimately the first was chosen. I did get to design Luke's card, though! Maybe I'll change my email address to "Cage4Hire@gmail.com", and pick up a few extra commissions… Color magic here again by the remarkable Rachelle Rosenberg!
This one was much fun–a Christmas gag gift cover. I wasn't sure which incarnation of Luke and Danny they wanted, so I did prelims featuring both. My favorite's prelim #5: the card says "To Luke, a true ORIGINAL"… Colors by Rachelle Rosenberg, who also did the fantastic color art for the Moon Girl/Devil Dinosaur cover.
