Meet Zahra, The Fictional Comic Book Character Running For President of Iran

Zahra is the protagonist of a graphic novel called Zahra's Paradise. You can read it in print here or as a webcomic here published by First Second.

Written and drawn by Amir and Khalil from Iran, the lead character of Zahra, a mother who lost her son in the 2009 Iranian protests, is currently standing for election as president. Somehow.

This also makes her the first woman to stand for Iranian presidential election. Shame she has to be fictional.
