The Mighty Crusaders Continue Their Fight For Justice: Dark Circle February 2018 Solicits

Dark Circle Comics, a subsidiary publisher under Archie Comics, begun publishing The Mighty Crusaders once more. Come February, they will be putting out a 32-page #3 for the superhero series.

For those who don't know, The Mighty Crusaders are a Silver Age superhero team created by Archie Comics in 1965, receiving their first series in 1968 under the umbrella of Mighty Comics. Many of the members were actually created back in the Golden Age, such as Black Hood and the Comet. Both of those characters were created in 1940. The Fly was actually a Jack Kirby creation. DC Comics briefly had the rights to the characters (then called Red Circle Comics) and assimilated them into DC continuity, though their series were short-lived.

The new Mighty Crusaders lineup includes the Shield, Flygirl, the Comet, the Jaguar, the Web, and Darkling.

This iteration redesigns a number of the characters for the modern age. The writer is Ian Flynn, who is primarily known for working on Archie Comics' Sonic comic book series. He is joined by artists Kelsey Shannon (The Flash: Season Zero, Batman Adventures, G. I. Joe), Matt Herms (Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic Universe, Mega Man), and Jack Morelli (Archie, Captain America, Warlock and the Infinity Watch). The upcoming story line involves the team throwing down with the likes of the Eliminators and a creature called the Dream Demon.

"Ambush"—The Mighty Crusaders are on the attack against the vicious Eliminators! It's an all-out brawl with the odds in the Crusaders' favor, until they're faced with a new, dark entity: The Dream Demon!
