A New Image Comic From Chris Condon and Jake Phillips

Christopher Condon is a filmmaker, whose work includes the film Last Night In Prague. He recently wrote,

I have been largely silent of late and for that, you have my apologies. But things seem to be happening and thus, I have been busy. Recently, I have been working on scripts for a comic book adaptation of a few stories I had written that take place in a fictitious county in West Texas. The county is appropriately named after writer Ambrose Bierce (it's Ambrose County) and I feel like he may enjoy the weird happenings that arise within its boundaries. The comic is drawn by Jacob Phillips, who for my money will be one of the big names in comics. You just watch.

Jacob Phillips is Sean Phillips' son. Recently Jake has been colouring Sean's work with Ed Brubaker, Criminal and My Heroes Have Always Been Junkies.

Jake also created illustrations for Condon's movie, one seen below.

Condon writes,

I have attached the first two pages of the comic pitch, which is mostly just a story with some images thrown in. It's a darkly comic tale, as with most of my stuff. I don't know what's wrong with my mind. I truly wish I wrote about candy canes and teddy bears but alas.

Anyway, here are the first two. I hope you like it and I hope you will want to take a trip down to Texas soon and visit. I know Joe Bob would like the company.

Bleeding Cool understands that Condon and Phillips' pitch has been picked up by Image Comics and will be published at a later date. Look forward to an announcement later this summer.
