Not In My House – Michael Davis, From The Edge

Michael Davis is an artist, writer, mentor, and entertainment executive. He  wrote a column for Bleeding Cool a few weeks ago that we titled Why Are We Still Complaining About Dan DiDio? Abhay Khosla responded to it on Savage Critic. Michael Davis answered back. But he isn't done…

I thought I would let some time lapse before I'd write another Bleeding Cool article. I was beyond furious that my work; Why are we still complaining about Dan Didio; had been grossly mispresented in Mr. Khosla's; The Case against Dan Didio.

His was nothing more than a retelling of my work for his purposes.

There wasn't a single thing he attributed to me that was accurate. Not only was it not accurate it was NOWHERE NEAR WHAT I WROTE.

That little thing seemed to have escaped those who quickly agreed with his assessment of my work.

This action of his may be a small thing to many, not to me.

Some time ago members of the Duke Lacrosse team were accused of raping a stripper. The DA had iron clad evidence that some of those pointed out by the accuser were not there.

He ignored it.

This DA was an idiot not because he was willing to railroad some to bolster his reelection but because the families involved had the means to fight. This ended when the DA was removed, disbarred and jailed following court findings concerning his conduct in the case.

All's well that end well right?

For that case, yes. But for many others including mine, nope.

A videotape showing two people running over to where I stood and attacked me was ignored. Witness statements backing my story didn't matter; I was arrested.

What happened to the two people who RAN OVER and started to hit me?

Nothing.

The DA in my case ignored the video and witness statements. The only reason I'm not in jail now is I had the means to hire a real attorney. But why should I have had to in the first place?

When the only two witness accounts against me were the two who attacked me all other accounts backed me entirely or somewhat, why wasn't the case just dismissed?

That's a question someone will have to answer very soon when two people who think they are off the hook are served in a civil case.

This complete made up narrative written was to me even more damaging than my arrest.

This happened in my house.

There's plenty in my article to oppose without changing what was written. If you have an opposing say, then by all means say it.

But you don't get to oppose something I never wrote in the first place.

Some think that my article was way over the top. One person even said the beginning of my article was the way to approach it. I was indeed polite, kind and understanding towards Mr. Khosla.

That was set up.

I can't believe anyone would miss my intent there.

This guy took my words and ignored them. He made a mockery of my reason to write the article in the first place. His utter contempt for my work was despicable, and this deserved kindness when none was shown me?

I should be polite when he insulted me? Dismissing my work as a "mentor" in effect calling me a liar or saying that part of my life was a joke?

WHO among you would respond to this type of disrespect with a polite note of concern?

Me? No, no, no a thousand times no.

No one gets to use my work, words or life choices for their benefit. Hate it, love it but you will not change it. As for me, the same applies, hate me, love me but you will not change me.

And you certainly will not do so in my house, not without severe consequences.
