Pat Carney Of The Black Keys Talks About Collecting Comics

Creativity lends itself to other forms of creativity. Often times we see musicians who love comic books like the System of the Down's drummer John Dolmayan who had comic book artists like Jim Lee and Tone Rodriguez draw on his drum kit. Or how Marvel characters like Silver Surfer and Doctor Strange have shown up on classic album covers. I've even got the Ibanez guitar with the Silver Surfer on it from the Joe Satriani album Surfing With The Alien.

Marvel has taken notice and is trying to tap into that musical vibe with a new video they're calling Marvel Playback. The interview Patrick Carney of the Black Keys about being a comic book collector and how it's something he picked up from his father, Jim Carney, a former newspaper reporter. Pat not only picked up the love of comics from his father, but also the love of baseball cards and music… which he has turned into a career.  The drummer also share part of his collection that includes some recognizable comics including the Guardians of the Galaxy #1 by Jim Valentino.
