Bleeding Cool Bestseller List – Justice League Beats X-Men, But Harley Quinn Rising

HARLEY_Cv3_xveel0xj69__527c3860caefa3.98034215This is the Top Ten Bleeding Cool Bestseller List, as compiled by a number of comic stores from their sales on Wednesday and Thursday. It measures what are known as the "Wednesday Warriors", those who can't wait to the weekend to get this week's comics. We salute you, and the keenness you bring to your passion.

Harley Quinn remains in the top of the top of the charts three issues in, as DC Comics clearly have a hit on their hands, on that might not have been appreciated previously. And one that Amanda Connor and Jimmy Palmiotti should be able to claim a real success – and will it prove possible for other DC Comics to have a less-than-house-style tone to match?

  1. Justice League #28
  2. Uncanny X-Men #17
  3. Amazing X-Men #4
  4. Harley Quinn #3
  5. Batman and Two-Face #28
  6. X-Men #11
  7. Daredevil #36
  8. Avengers World #3
  9. New Warriors #1
  10. Wonder Woman #28

And thanks to these wonderful retailers.

And here is what they had to say…

This was the Week That Marvel and DC dominated.  Harley Quinn continues its domination of back issues and new issues this week.  However with Deadpool and Harley the same week its always a good thing.

Our number one seller Justice League #28 sold twice as many copies as our number two seller, Uncanny X-men #17 did. The last issue of the current run of Mark Waid's Daredevil sold out quickly from our shelves.

Not much to say about this week. Light week of books and people didn't really go out of their way to try something different.

Great week for Marvel books, with three X-titles, the launch of the New Warriors #1, along with Nova and of course Punisher #2. New Warriors didn't do as well as we had hoped here, but The Punisher is a runaway train. Sold a ton of #1 issues of it this week, word of mouth has definitely been helping because more and more fans are jumping on this book every day. Surprise indie hit of the week goes to Undertow #1. Not sure if there was buzz around this book or if it was because it was a smaller Image week. These days we have a ton of customers who seek out whatever Image is doing because they are kicking so much ass lately.

DC NEW 52 trades seem to be selling better than ever. Books like Suicide Squad and Green Arrow are insanely hot right now. Customers keep coming in trying to get caught up on these and almost every one of them talks about how much they love the Arrow tv show.

Very weird week. Birds of Prey 28 and Supergirl 28 sold out the day they came out. The Gothtopia crossover was a boost for Birds of Prey while people are interested in Supergirl being a Red Lantern. Amazing X Men 4 also sold out. Read New Warriors 1 and thought it was good. Sales do not reflect that though. Not even the Scarlet Spider's readership picked up the book. The snowstorm basically closed us down Thursday.

Captain America past issues are starting to see some love thanks to the upcoming movie. Sad that Ed Brubaker is having nothing to do with Marvel currently though.

Thank you God…time for a breather from the publishers. Customers happy to be able to catch up with the small week.Batman and Robin sold out and has peaked the interest of new readers.

First appearances on all books being tracked down across the board. Guardians of the Galaxy is huge and will only get more intense the closer we get to the movie. I was expecting a small dip in sales for the year, but i have a feeling that i will get demand from new readers on that title alone and a increase instead for the year.

everyone is going crazy for Guardians of the Galaxy back issues (Abnett & Lanning) as well as Annihilation/Annihilation Star Lord, etc. Naturally the smooth running machine that is Marvel Comics is taking advantage of this movie/comic synergy by having all of the Abnett Lanning trade paperbacks in stock for us to sell. Oh wait, no I meant they have NONE. ZERO. Way to fail once again Marvel.
