CGC Buys Classics Incorporated In A 9.8 Graded Conflict Of Interests

CGC Buys Classics Incorporated In A 9.8 Graded Conflict Of InterestsThere's nothing I like more than a good conflict of interest. I usually run towards them with my arms wide open. Bleeding Cool being published by Avatar, me writing myself into the Top 100 Power List, I just blaze straight through.

Which is why I was delighted to see the comic book grading company CGC doing similar. By buying up the comic book restoration company, Classics Incorporated and moving them in house. And allowing people to use both services at once.

The act of restoration is often a divisive one in comic collecting circles. Certainly CGC being able to know exactly what restoration has been performed on a certain comic would be a boon, the other side of the coin is that CGC may be tempted to grade Classic Restoration work higher than those of rivals. [Mark adds — one center of controversy among collectors in this move are procedures such as pressing (A process using high pressure, sometimes in conjunction with heat or moisture, to press bends and wrinkles out of a comic book, in itself a source of controversy within the hobby) which are not considered restoration by CGC but which can enhance the grade and thus the value of the comic considerably]

Classics Incorporated with its previous owner Matt Nelson, will be moving from Dallas to Sarasota, Florida, with employees able to move.
