ITV2 Drops Entourage In UK. No One Picks It Up.
It's been one of the funnier American imports of late. HBO's Entourage has played on the main commercial broadcaster in the UK's sister channel ITV2 for a few years now. Telling the story about an A-list actor living in working in LA, with a bunch of friends that he basically has to pay for that role, it's funny, clever, vastly entertaining, and in agent Ari Gold, has the only American character who could take on The Thick Of It's Malcolm Tucker.
Heavily promoted, it has shared programming blocks with Secret Diary Of A Call Girl and No Heroics on the channel. And winning a BAFTA in the UK seemed to only help cement this show in the British schedules, and since it aired days after the US showing, no one bothered with torrents either.
Well they'll have to both now. Not only has ITV2 dropped Entourage for series 7, now airing in the US, but no other channel has stepped up to grab the rights.
If I see Johnny Drama on the Viking Quest panel at San Diego, I'm going to bring it up.
